The community started in 1932 with many people purchasing vacation homes in Long Beach, St Leonard Maryland because it was advertised to be only an hour and 15 minutes away from DC back then. Because Long Beach is hilly many homes have views of the Chesapeake Bay and are within waling distance to the beach. I like the big beach next to the marina the best. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. I spend my lunch breaks walking on the beach every day in the summer. The photos below show the beach and the neighborhood.

Flag Harbor Marina is a great place to keep your boat. It offers deep water and easy access to the Chesapeake Bay. We keep our boat there because it is so convenient. If you like fishing it offers quick access to all of the best fishing spots. It is also great for sailboats. There are restrooms and a swimming pool at the marina.

One advantage to buying a vacation home in Long Beach is that you can buy a cottage with access to the beach and marina with a view for a lot less then you would have to pay for a waterfront home. My pick for the best buy is a Beach cottage located in St Leonard with a view for $149,000. View the Chesapeake Bay, walk to the beach. Needs some work but it is a great price for this foreclosure!
